MY FAVORITE RECORDS:
CHEAP TRICK - Live At Budokan.
In high school this never left my turntable. I even bought their comeback
record "Lap Of Luxury," because "Surrender" and "Come
On, Come On" are THAT
good.
THE WIPERS - Over the Edge/BLACK FLAG - My War/SEX PISTOLS - Never Mind
The Bollocks.
My junior high life was dominated by these three records. No matter what
else I
listened to at the time, these records defined those first years of
puberty. Oh
yeah, I'm pretty sure Poison Idea were in there too.
REDD KROSS - Neurotica.
I remember in high school when I bought this it sounded like another
world
to
me - still does. They were funny and kinda goofy snobs, just wonderful
pop
with
punk attitude that sent my heart reeling. I even ripped off one of these
songs.
THE RAMONES - Too Tough To Die/THE CLASH - LP/RAMONES - Rocket To Russia.
"Too Tough To Die" was my first Ramones record, thus it's inclusion.
I
believe
that "Sha La La (Howling At the Moon)" made me realize that
pop music
could be
a great great thing. I borrowed both the first Clash lp and Ramones'
Rocket
from a friend. The Clash were the first band that made me feel cool.
JONI MITCHELL - Court And Spark.
I blame My friend Kenny for this. It started an unhealthy obsession with
this
pretentious hippy that lasted almost ten years (I've recovered slightly.)
Just
a beautiful, brilliant record no one has even been able to successfully
copy!
Talk about smarts! I don't feel one bit ridiculous loving this record
- it's even
one of Lemmy's favorites, so there!
MOTORHEAD - Orgasmatron.
This was a favorite beat it till' you bleed classic among me and my
friends
upon the time of it's release. It's arguably the best heavy metal album
ever
made. The lyrics to "Built For Speed" are of such matter of
fact genius
that
when on the road it's a must hear. And then there's the title
track-marching
death personified.
BEACH BOYS - Sunflower/Love You/ROCKPILE - Seconds Of Pleasure
These are what I call pure Teenage Frames records. Not until I met Eric
Vegas
was I able to bask in the greatness that is Sunflower, a truly underrated
classic. Love You has always been an eccentric masterpiece to me, and
Rockpile,
well just go to Eric's page "favorite drummers" for the 101.
BOB DYLAN - Blood On The tracks.
I won't even bother with words. It means that much to me.
MILLIE JACKSON - Live And Uncensored.
My most favorite party record of all time. It's a nasty, raunchy stage
show
that I hope has in part influenced some of our best moments on stage.
Millie
has a big, loud, trashy voice that fills a room and makes you wanna
holla! Holla!
Great soul and funk from an ex model who's got a mouth like a sailor
and
the
disposition to match.
WAYLON JENNINGS - Greatest Hits.
This was seemingly always playing at my house as I grew up. My mom loved
country music and I loved her taste. Though not my favorite country
artist,
(I'm inclined to mention Charlie Rich and my step dad's fave, Hank
Williams, Sr.)
I absolutely love this record, every song, every corny lick and lyric.
And
Waylon is a GREAT singer. What did you expect from a guy who's first
record
purchase was Dolly Parton's single "9 to 5"?
